MARINE CARPET
Whether the intended use is a boat, pontoon, car, trailer, deck or floor, a multi-purpose carpet is highly regarded as top-quality and capable of providing many years of fade-resistant enjoyment. Typically manufactured from solution-dyed polypropylene fibre and UV stabilised, our marine carpet is soft to touch and easy to clean making it ideal for boat flooring as the fibre does not absorb moisture, resulting in a product that will never rot, fray or stain.
WHAT IS MARINE CARPET?
Marine grade carpet has been specifically designed and manufactured for the purpose of providing tough and durable carpet solutions for both indoor and outdoor applications. Using the latest needle punch technology and 100% polypropylene construction, marine carpet can easily handle the harsh Australian environment.
Flame retardant, insect resistant and anti-static are just some of the benefits of using synthetic fibres. Marine carpet is also a cost-effective solution for boat flooring that can add value and character to any vessel. With stain shield fibres and a high water-resistance rating, you can simply hose it down after any messy fishing stains, while maintaining a professional finish with a modern and stylish look.
IS MARINE CARPET WATERPROOF?
Designed for outdoor use and boat wet areas, marine carpet is durable and hard-wearing. It provides a non-slip water-resistant option for any boat flooring. The product is easy to clean and maintain as the synthetic fibres repel water and moisture. This means any spills will not be absorbed, then it's simply a matter of extracting the dirt or spill from between the fibres with a vacuum, cleaning agent or high-pressure hose.
Although extremely durable and highly resistant to moisture, mould and mildew, they have a low resilience in high-traffic areas. This means that they may flatten over time and become matted, however, this does not affect the waterproof abilities of the carpet.
TIPS FOR INSTALLING MARINE CARPET
- Always allow for extra when doing your measurements.
- Remove any temporary seating, rod holders and other objects that may interfere when laying the carpet.
- Unroll the carpet and lay it in the sun for a few hours to soften the backing to make it more pliable and easier to position and cut.
- Ensure you use a glue that will hold the carpet in place and is NOT water-soluble. Indoor/Outdoor Boat Carpet Adhesive, Professional Marine Grade Carpet Adhesive and Spray Contact Adhesive are your best options.
- Work in sections when spreading the flue and allow it to get tacky before laying it down.
